The kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a founding member of the United Nations Organization and it has participated in the San Francisco Conference in 1945 which resulted in the Charter of the Organization.
There are various functions of the United Nations Organization and its international specialized organizations which include Maintaining International Peace and Security , Supporting Sustainable Development, Strengthening International Law , Upholding Human Rights, Supporting International Economic Cooperation, Combating Terrorism and its Financing, Eradicating Poverty, Lack of Water, and Climate Change Issues.
Based on the kingdoms ’ commitment as a member of the United Nations Organization in work and cooperation with the rest of the countries, International Organization, and regional agencies to maintain International Peace and Security, in addition to its believing in the importance of the development of International Economic Relations, and cooperation between all countries to maintain stabilization of the global financial system and the world economy, the kingdom has carefully reviewed systems, structures, procedures and governmental regulations. Also, it reviewed the allocation of responsibilities and tasks, and introduced administrative and management units in government sectors. Furthermore, the kingdom created permanent joint committees between government bodies to ensure coordination in implementing its commitments towards International Organizations and other countries in international cooperation fields at all political and economic levels.
In this context, the permanent committee for implementing Security Council resolutions under Chapter VII of the UN Charter was established, which consisting of several members representing a number of government institutions. That committee is generally concerned with studying subjects related to implementing Security Council Resolutions under Chapter VII of the Charter, monitoring the implementation on national level, and sending the Security Council reports regarding the measures which the kingdom has taken to implement these resolutions.
